J AR Java Archive (JavaSoft)
Java Computer programming language (developed by Sun MicroSystems' Inc., "Green" team headed by James Gosling in order to overcome difficulties with the use of the C++ programming language ) that may be displayed through a browser (HotJava). Java in combination with HotJava allow the display of Java-based page files that include animation, audio, and real-time interactivity on the Web. Java's original name was "Oak" named after an Oak tree visible from Gosling's office window).

JP Jumper (JPnn...e.g., Jumper setting for CPU Clock Selection, Cache size, CMOS --Completely Metal Oxide Silicon-- Discharge [also see CMOS-RAM], Monitor Type, VESA Local Bus Setup, VESA Local Bus Speed...)
.jp Japan (country code for top level domain)
JPEG Joint Picture Expert Group (pronounced "Jay Peg"; JPEG technolgy compresses graphics file sizes to up to 1/20 of its original size at a relatively small image quality reduction. JPEG's compression algorithm is a "lossy" versus "loss-less" compression system thus a download speed/image quality trade-off is expected; While JPEG may not be the best format for all browsers on the Web, it is a great tool for displaying photographs and images that are not negatively affected by a "lossy" compression technique; also see MPEG)
.jpg File extension of a picture compression format with a very high compression ratio (also see .gif.
JSQL Java Standard Query Language (Java based query standard for corporate databases).
